EMDRIA Eligibility Requirements for EMDR Training
Independently Licensed Mental Health Professionals
- Qualifying Medical Doctors must be licensed to practice in their state or province.
- Qualifying Advanced Practice Registered Nurses must have a Master of Science in Nursing (or higher) with a specialization in psychiatric mental health nursing and must be licensed to practice through their state board or province.
- Qualifying Mental Health Clinicians must have a Master’s Degree in the mental health field (Counseling, Marriage Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Social Work) or related mental health discipline and be independently licensed to practice through their state board or province.
Provisionally or Pre-Licensed Mental Health Professionals
- Qualifying Pre-Licensed Mental Health Clinicians must have a Master’s Degree in the mental health field (Counseling, Marriage Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Social Work) or related mental health discipline and must be actively pursuing a full license through their state board (or province) while working under an independently licensed supervisor.
- Some of these license types may include: associate, intern, limited, provisional, temporary, and pre-license. LSW/LMSWs who are not independently licensed and still under clinical supervision are in this category.
- In order to verify their eligibility, clinicians must submit a letter from their current supervisor confirming they are: 1) under the supervision of a fully licensed mental health clinician, and 2) actively pursuing a full license through their state board (or province).
- We kindly request that the letter is written and signed on the supervisor’s office letterhead; additionally, the letter must include the supervisor’s license information and number.
- Upload the letter as a PDF to your account page at least 7 days prior to the first day of the training.
Graduate Students
- Qualifying graduate students must be enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program in the mental health field (Counseling, Marriage Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Psychiatric Nursing, Social Work) or related mental health discipline.
- Students must have completed their core graduate academic coursework and must be in the practicum/internship portion of their graduate program. First year graduate students are not eligible.
- Graduate students must be on a licensing track and working under the supervision of a fully licensed mental health clinician.
- Graduate students who would like to take an EMDR Training will need to submit certain documentation (graduate transcript, practicum or internship details, and a letter from their supervisor which includes the supervisor’s license information and number) in order to verify their eligibility. In the letter, the supervisor needs to confirm that the student is on the licensing track and working under the supervision of a fully licensed mental health clinician.
- We kindly request that the letter is written and signed on the supervisor’s office letterhead; additionally, the letter must include the supervisor’s license information and number.
- Upload the required documentation as PDFs to your account page at least 7 days prior to the first day of the training.
- Students do not need to provide EMDRIA with any documentation unless specifically asked to do so by EMDRIA staff.

What is Your Refund Policy?
REFUND POLICY:Â 100% refund, less a $100 fee, if cancellation occurs 30 days prior. 50% refund if cancellation occurs 21 days prior. After that, no reimbursement is provided. Registrants who partially attend the training or do not complete the training will not receive a refund and cannot transfer their attendance to another training. In the event that EMDR training needs to be canceled, participants will be notified at least one week prior to the training, and full tuition will be refunded.

Roy Kiessling, LISW
Founder and Director of EMDR Consulting
Roy Kiessling, LISW, is a Licensed Independent Social Worker with more than 20 years of clinical practice. He is the founder of EMDR Consulting and creator of our EMDRIA Approved EMDR Training Course: Integrating EMDR into your Clinical Practice. Roy was initially trained in EMDR in 1995 by The EMDR Institute (Level 1 by Kay Werk in Cincinnati, OH and Level 2 by Francine Shapiro in Chicago, IL). In 1997, he became an EMDR Institute facilitator and started helping conduct EMDR Institute trainings led by Francine Shapiro and her Senior Trainer staff. Since 1998, Roy has been an EMDRIA Approved Credit Provider and Consultant. He presented at the EMDRIA International Conference from 1999 through 2010 on topics involving basic EMDR procedures and protocols, resourcing interventions, and in 2010, he led a full day, pre-conference workshop on EMDR from a belief-focused perspective. Roy started working towards becoming an independent trainer with EMDRIA accreditation in 2013. In June of that same year, Roy’s own approach to the EMDR Basic Training was approved, and since then, he has remained an independent EMDRIA Approved Training Provider. With his focus on his own basic training course, Roy resigned as a senior trainer from both the EMDR Institute and EMDR HAP. Roy’s basic training approach incorporates his many years of experience in teaching EMDR and provides the most effective techniques and additional information to assist clinicians in seamlessly integrating the EMDR approach into their practices.

Rivki Jungreis LCSW, MS.E.d,
Founder of RJ Psychological Trainings, LLC
Rivki Jungreis, LCSW, MS.E.d, is a licensed clinical therapist and trauma specialist in private practice for over 25 years. She is the Founder of Advanced Psychological Trainings, LLC. Â
Rivki’s clinical background is rooted in relational psychoanalysis and psychodynamics. Her approach includes an integrative perspective. Committed to current modalities, Rivki is a certified and an Approved Consultant in EMDR and an EMDR Child Specialist, a therapeutic model developed by Francine Schapiro. She is a trained clinician in EMDR, Somatic, IFS, Sand Tray and Play Therapy modalities.
Specialty areas include treating: trauma/intergenerational trauma, PTSD, anxiety, attachment issues, grief/loss, parental work, relationship difficulties.Â
Rivki works with adults, adolescents, children and parents. Her knowledge of attachment issues and the developmental stages of children were developed in her early training at Bank Street College of Education . Â
Rivki provides EMDR consultation to therapists attaining hours towards Emdria certification, Clinical supervision for therapists working with children, Trauma- informed consultation for clinicians committed to improving their practice. Rivki is a motivational speaker and international lecturer. She has led workshops on various topics, including:Â Mental Health/Parenting/Attachment/Trauma/Intergenerational Trauma/ Abuse/and Outreach.
Rivki is a Board Member and Training Coordinator at NEFESH International, was a member of the Association for Play Therapy and served on the sexual abuse/trauma service team at William Alanson White Institute of Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis & Psychology. She was the Program Coordinator of Summer Project Safe Camp of Safety Kid Institute in New York; and served as Executive Board Member of NYC TRN – New York City (EMDR) Trauma Recovery Network for Disasters Response Worldwide.Â
